After endless delays due to fringe elements and unending controversies, seems like makers of Padmavati have zeroed in on a date. And as reported earlier it won’t be January 12, 2018 but a February one. According to a report in Box Office India, exhibition source has stated that the overseas distributors have sent a schedule to theatre chains in US/Canada which carries the date to be February 9, 2018.
Which means the makers are aiming for a Februry 9, 2018 to release Padmavati but of course, it is subjected to change as the controversies surrounding the film have blown out of proportion. The release on this date will also give film two holidays in the week with Mahashivratri and Valentine’s Day.Which means the makers are aiming for a Februry 9, 2018 to release Padmavati but of course, it is subjected to change as the controversies surrounding the film have blown out of proportion. It is heartbreaking to see Sanjay Leela Bhansali go through such atrocities because of the sad sate of law and order in our country. People are announcing bounties on his head as well as film’s lead Deepika Padukone, all in open.
Earlier today Bombay High Court had condemned the threats to the film and those attached with it. The division bench of Justices S C Dharmadhikari and Bharti Dangre said,
Here, we have a situation in which a chief minister says he will not allow the film to be released. Tomorrow, people will not be able to convene meetings and express their views.
He further added,
In which other countries are artists and performers threatened? It is distressing to know that a person makes a feature film and several people work tirelessly towards it, but (he) is not able to release the film because of continued threats. What have we come to?
Slamming the fringes who attacked Deepika, he said,
Today, somebody says I will give a reward to anyone who kills an actress. People are taking pride in saying we will give reward to those who will kill an actress… In this country, we have come to a situation where people cannot voice their opinions. This does not augur well for the state.
What concerns us is India’s image and reputation as a democratic country. We are the largest democracy. We cannot take pride in the happenings of such incidents day in and day out. We are cutting a very sorry figure.
Here’s waiting for an official announcement from the makers of Padmavati and hoping for a smooth release of the film.
